Mayor: “Is this true?” Venkman: “Yes this is true. This man has no dick.” My favorite line in the movie! Venkman’s the comedic relief!

Such a liar and so much in denial Peck was, claiming the Ghostbusters started an explosion when he was the one responsible in the first place and doesn't want to be proven wrong because his pride will get hurt. Good that Peck got told to leave and let the Ghostbusters try to save the city.

I do feel bad for the actor who plays Peck. If I remember the Dickless joke went a little too far as people would go up to him and call him that in public.

SF Debris made a great point about this scene. Venkman is very good at playing and manipulating people. The moment the Archbishop showed up, Venkman knew the mayor was a religious man and so exploited that with his "Biblical proportions" statement and the others caught on and joined in. Venkman then sealed the deal by appealing to his political side with the voters bit.

This is a strong moral massage to this scene, Those who believe in the supernatural or spirit realm knows that there are things out there that are greater than ourselves, and that comes with any path of faith. But those who are nonbelievers are dickless.

The EPA doesn’t report to the city mayor. They have federal jurisdiction and can tell the mayor to piss off if they want.

No matter what an asshole Peck-er was, he was just doing his job when it came to the power grid & proton packs. They had 4 mini nuclear accelerators that were basically small dirty nuclear bombs, a power grid setup that no master electrician had ever seen before, and nothing but their word that it was all safe. If any of them failed, then it could kill tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people. Where Peck-er went wrong, was letting his emotions interfere with his judgment, and shutting down the power grid, with no regard to what the city electrical engineers told him about it being potentially very dangerous.

Anyone look at the 1984 Ghostbusters (& the 1989 sequel) and realize part of why the team works is that each brings something different to the mix... something some current movies don't grasp when they throw four leads in? Venkman... "sardonic" 10 years before Chandler Bing makes that part of the American lexicon. Intelligent, Articulate (when he wants to be) and with the skillset that used car dealers & polticians need... salesmanship. Talking Ray into financing the startup. Talking the mayor into letting them save the city. Egon's the scientific mind. Lacks the poker face Venkman has. Being around Venkman probably kept him from turning out like a 1980s Sheldon Cooper. Ray comes off like blue-collar stock. Smart as Egon, but probably more mechanically inventive & clearly "the car guy" on the team. Clearly the emotional heart of the team. Winston... comes in like its the audience getting an everyman on the team. The novels give the (missing from film) backstory context that Winston was ex-military... did a stint to get an education on the G.I. bill. Looking for civilian work to allow him to look after a grandmother while making a living. Second movie really helped show he was accepted as a full member of the team.

This club rampage ranks right up there in it's shocking realism with the vaunted fight scene in the train between James Bond and Red Grant that took place in the film ' From Russia With Love ' . But I must say , this movie , ' Collateral ' , is one of my favorite films .
